Abstract

An environmental impact assessment is reported for the integrated systems for bioenergy production by fuel cell devices. A study of life-cycle assessment (LCA) has been carried out to compare the environmental impact of two different integrated systems of fuel cell. The systems have the same fuel processor plant (an anaerobic digester) and the same clean-up unit for hydrogen sulfide removing (based on conventional porous carbon materials) but have different energy conversion device, which is an high temperature solid oxide fuel cell (HT-SOFC) and an intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell (IT-SOFC) respectively.
